Body Awareness Method® is an investigative approach developed specifically for tango dancers.
It explores how movement, perception, and the internal organization of the body can transform the way we dance, connect, and relate in tango.
Rather than working with fixed steps or pre-set sequences, the method focuses on understanding how the body functions in movement — and how this understanding leads to clarity, ease, and expressivity.
The Body Awareness Method® was born in 1998, when a group of tango dancers seeking to improve their movement approached Marcela for guidance. At that time, they needed support to better understand their bodies in relation to dance.
From this encounter, and through Marcela’s knowledge and experience in body awareness and movement training, these dancers began to transform their dancing. Today, many of them are internationally recognized professional figures in Argentine tango.
Later, with the integration of Alberto, the circle was completed. His deep experience in social tango and the culture of the embrace in Buenos Aires met Marcela’s academic and somatic approach to the body.
From this meeting, a method emerged that bridges structured body knowledge and the lived experience of tango in its social and cultural context.

tension, fatigue, or discomfort while dancing
challenges with balance or stability
difficulty releasing movements such as boleos, ganchos, or spirals
uncertainty in partner communication or connection
difficulty integrating new sequences or movement ideas
